In simple words, you become happy because you choose to be and you feel unhappy too, by your own choice. This is what we all have been hearing till now and which is also true to an extent. Since happiness is a state of mind that is crucial for a healthy and peaceful life, we discuss here some facts about happy hormones and the ways to increase them.

Endorphins

Endorphins are one of the significant hormones in the body known to be natural painkillers, as they tend to block pain. They’re also responsible for feelings of pleasure. The feeling of pleasure is activated when you experience something good or something you like the most, like your favorite music, food or even strong companionship.

Increasing Endorphin Level

  • The best way to release endorphins for coping with chronic pain is through exercise;
  • The consumption of spicy food can send pain-like signals to the brain, triggering it to release endorphins;
  • Engage in activities you love to do the most, even though you may have very less time in the day, because if you indulge in the activities you enjoy, you will help to stimulate the endorphins naturally.

Serotonin

This hormone is called the happy hormone as it is capable of regulating your mood. Serotonin prevents depression, anxiety, curbs irritation and altogether makes you feel happy and cordial. Serotonin also heals wounds, stimulates nausea and maintains bone health.

Increasing Serotonin Levels

  • Increase your exposure to sunlight, as it boosts the production of vitamin D;
  • A variety of foods can also increase serotonin levels. These foods are cheese, eggs, turkey, salmon, nuts, pineapple and tofu. Consuming other products like milk and corn which contain tryptophan, a substance that your body converts to serotonin, is also beneficial for boosting serotonin levels;
  • Meditation which helps in relieving stress also boosts serotonin levels in the body.

Dopamine

This hormone is called the pleasure hormone, as it allows you to keep focused and pay attention towards your goal. This is one hormone that helps you experience Instant gratification upon reaching your goal and retains that feeling for a while.

Increasing Dopamine Levels

  • Set goals and strive to achieve them, since the urge to accomplish these
    goals will provide euphoria of a different level;
  • Set exercise goals, as this hormone (dopamine) increases and maintains a healthy level of serotonin and endorphins when you exercise. Physical exercise is one of the best things you can do for your brain. This hormone also plays an important role in slowing down the ageing process of the brain cells, boosts the production of brain cells and even helps in the proper flow of nutrients to the brain;
  • Include in your diet, foods like tomatoes, broccoli, avocados, potatoes, spinach, oranges and Brussels sprouts, as these foods contain dopamine. Another food item which is rich in dietary dopamine are bananas. Protein-rich foods contain amino acid l-tyro-sine which can create dopamine. Additionally, eat a lot of protein-rich foods like lima beans, olive oil, peanuts, oatmeal, oregano, sea vegetables, rosemary, soy products, watermelon, sesame and pumpkin seeds, turmeric etc.

Oxytocin

This is known as the love hormone and is also a chemical messenger to the brain which can control certain aspects of the reproductive system, which includes childbirth and lactation. Oxytocin also helps in increasing feelings of love and trust and other elements of human behavior, as it is an antidote for depressive feelings. Furthermore, oxytocin is the best hormone that supports relationship building.

Increasing Oxytocin Levels

  • Encourage others with words and gestures, because when you compliment others, you will also receive be complimented and this process of encouraging others and receiving encouragement will make you feel happy. The feeling of being loved also increases self- esteem. The ‘feel good’ hormone increases when we are caring and compassionate towards others and oxytocin gets activated;
  • Go in for regular massages, as it helps in relaxing the muscles and thus releases oxytocin;
  • Oxytocin, like the other hormones too, increases when you exercise. This is because oxygen travels to the different parts of your body, through your brain. However, you don’t have to go to the gym or do rigorous workout to trigger this hormone, brisk walks or gentle yoga too, can benefit you.

Diwali brings that special time of the year when millions of people all across the world unite to celebrate and light up the world. The flame of lighted Diyas, the artistically designed lanterns, firecrackers lighting up the sky, the transcending pujas at home and a get together of family and friends make the festival even more magical and joyous.

Yet, there are many innocent female kids who thrown away by their parents just because they wanted a boy child, there are many women out there who have spent their entire life living for their husbands and kids and left unaware about their true potential and talent, there are people out there who are fighting with serious diseases and are dying to live more with their family and loved ones, there are innocent poor animals who keep looking for a shelter which can give them some warmth, there are elderlies who have left out by their young kids.

So lighten up does not mean just lightning up the world with Diyas and lights, but in true sense, lightning up means bringing a light in the lives of people who are living in the darkness, away from hopes.

Education for girls is very important, as it will make them stand on their own feets and contribute in the development of society – Says Arun Kumar Mishra

Girls, who have given so many names by our country – Laxmi, Naarishakti, kanya (who is worshiped everywhere) and many other names which symbolizes the power and prosperity.  But when it comes to giving girls their deserving rights, still many towns, many places and many families are there who keep them devoid from their rights. While, there are many families and mothers who see themselves in their daughters, and wish to fulfill all their dreams. Though the will has incredible power, but many a times, it is not enough, especially in the economically deprived or backward places, where more than the will, there is the requirement of genuine opportunities.

Mr. AK Mishra, who has been a motivational speaker since past 2 decades and is the founder and Chairman of Chanakya IAS Academy, given more than 4000 Civil Servants to the nation, now has taken up this responsibility of bringing the right opportunities to such marginalized people of the society through AK Mishra Foundation.

Although saving a girl child and educating a girl is one of the major causes on which AK Mishra Foundation is working, there are many other causes this Non-Profit Organization is working for.

Being himself born and brought up in a small town of Hazaribagh, Mr. AK Mishra has chosen to begin the work from Hazaribagh and make every corner of it a developed placed, where each and every talent should get the equal opportunity to flourish; be it young girls and boys, or adult men and women or elderlies.

Some recent initiative of AK Mishra like giving Art and Craft training to women at Hazaribagh and Ramgarh has brought incredible changes in the cities, as now every woman out there know their worth, capability and can contribute well in the family. AK Mishra Foundation invited special trainers to train the ladies in sewing, crafting with threads and many other art and craft related works, through which these ladies can earn well later and make their own identity.

Besides this, after noticing the fan-less classrooms of GDM Girls high school in Barkagaon, Hazaribagh, Mr. AK Mishra gifted over 28 fans to the school as a small gesture to make girls feel special for their existence in the society, and said that they should be studied under all good atmosphere, so that they utilize most of their strengths well.

The inspiring journey of Success Guru AK Mishra

Indomitable willpower, never say die attitude and belief in his mission are the hallmark of AK Mishra, the Founder and Chairman of Chanakya education and Training Pvt. These pauses, and what he thoughtfully surveyed in them, perhaps suggested him the way forward and thus he decided to lay the foundation of an institution where he can coach the youngsters and help them become the administrators to bring a change which our nation deserves.

And this is how Chanakya IAS Academy came into the existence. How to differentiate between the real and fake smile

When we smile we enact the two potential muscles. The first one is Zygomaticus major which controls the corners of our mouth. When this muscle is activated, the smile is not actually genuine. This can also be called as “social” smile. The second muscle is orbicularis oculi, which is known to show sincerity and it surrounds our eye socket.

Whenever we smile, there are 2 potential muscles we activate. The first one is the zygomaticus major and it controls the corners of your mouth. Whenever this muscle only is activated, it’s not actually a genuine smile. Scientists call this also the “social” smile. The second muscle, known to show sincerity is the orbicularis oculi and it encircles our eye socket.

Effects of smile on our success, health, sense of peacefulness & happiness

Through the powerful feedback loop, smile can indeed change our brain. Our brain keeps a good track of our smiles, like a smile scorecard. Our brain knows how often we’ve smiled and which state of mind we are in. Smiling helps reduce stress, foster good sleep and generate more positive emotions within you. SO SMILE!

Conquer The Fear Of Making Wrong Decisions In Life

Every day we begin a fresh morning with new challenges & new hopes. As we move forward in life, many times we find ourselves stuck in situations where we have to make decisions and we are completely blank; few decisions are easier to make, while some may impact our entire life and often put us in crossroads. None of us know what our fate has in store for us and none of us has seen that, what is visible to us is our efforts, our decisions, and our struggles which ultimately help us reach our desired paths.

But, what if we afraid to choose a path which in turn makes us so unclear while making a choice in life? Yes, it happens. It happens quite often. I found many people in my seminars asking this kind of question to me. Lot of decisions in life can be frightening anticipation to many people who are afraid with the thoughts like ‘what will happen if I don’t choose the right thing’. And this is nowhere defines a stronger or a weaker personality, it’s just humanly thoughts, which different people face at different phases of life.

There is a term coined by Princeton University philosopher Walter Kaufmann for this kind of fear, which is known as ‘decidophobia. It often leads people to lack of clarity, blurred thought process, increases our dependency on others, and sometimes leads to overall lost sense of direction and control.

Why does it happen?

Most of our experiences which we face as grown up people in life are due to the experiences we have had in our early stages of life. For eg, many people have fear of failure in life, and hence they face difficulty while making career choices, or while taking up a new project, or changing a job, or setting up a new goal; it happens because they either have faced such failures in school where they have been criticized because of this, or they have seen failures being faced by some of their closed ones, may be parents or anyone close to them. While, some have fear of making decision for marriage, which I have seen very commonly, this could be either because they have seen the disturbed marriage of their close ones around as a child, or it could be that they have faced troubles in the married life of their parents themselves. So the fear or phobias comes from nowhere but from one’s own experiences or witnesses in life.

Below are some best tips by to overcome the fear of making decisions and bring clarity

Feel your emotions deeply and pay attention to them

Our emotions play a major role in guiding us if we deeply pay attention to them. Understand you emotions; analyze how you feel when you think about that decision which you want to make. These emotions are indeed work as your gut feeling in these situations. Let us assume that you are not being able to make decision between whether it should be done or it should not be done. Let’s give name ‘X’ to should be done option, and ‘Y’ to should not be done option. Now, imagine yourself choosing X, and see how do you feel while choosing X option, understand that emotion! Is it negative, is it still fearful or is it positive? Think about ‘Y’, how do you feel now?

As I mentioned above, every human being is never born with such fear. People develop fears from their past experiences. We human often built a protective fence around us and our emotional scars and try to keep away anything or anybody who can trigger that unconscious fear.

Here, our emotions take the form of gut feeling or intuition when we deeply pay an attention to it, as the answers of every question of yours is inside yourself, you just need to introspect. So now, whenever you feel fear, move inward and pay attention to your deeper emotions.

Understand that there is nothing called ‘Right’ or ‘Wrong’ Decision in life

It could be bitter truth for some, while some may understand and would take it very well; that every experience you have in life, whether you say it good or bad, right or wrong, and that experience is something you need to have in life. That’s how you grow. So your some decision may lead you towards a beautiful path beyond your imagination, while your some decision may lead you to painful lesson but will ultimately make you wiser. Our life, the situation we face, the circumstances we experience are the sum total of what we most think in our life, our thoughts have a strong impact on our reality. So, introspect, analyze the situations well, think about the outcomes, but do not let the fear of negative outcome overpower your thoughts and energies.

And, the guidance can come to you in any form. Simply just flip the coin and see where it leads you.

Let go of the fear

Before making any decision in life, you first have to let go of the fear which is dominating your thought process. Let go of the fear, let go of the thought which is triggering the emotion of fear in you. Once you have conquered the fear, it’s time to relax, meditate, move inward, and introspect, think about the possible outcomes (for eg. (1) What happens if X happens? (2) What won’t happen if X happens? (3) What happens if X doesn’t happen? (4) What won’t happen if X doesn’t happen?).

Be prepared for even the negative outcomes

While I am asking you to let go of negative thoughts and think the positive ones, on the other hand, I would advise, if the decision is difficult for you, look at the potential consequences. What worst could happen? What are you scaring from? What is the risk involved? Empower yourself by being prepared for that worst scenario realizing that it will be handled if other things are perfect. Analyze the number of positive and negative outcomes, and prepare yourself for few negative ones; believing that even the unwanted outcomes bring opportunities in life. You never know! So just take a deep breath, listen to your gut feeling with all the calculations involved, trust on the supreme power and jump.

Human mind, which is the most powerful tool endowed by the almighty to every human being to reach their full potential and to create anything one desires in life. Moreover, it is human mind which has the caliber to do all the inventions, discoveries and most importantly makes one able to consciously live, communicate, love, hate, think and so forth.

Divisions of mind

Human Mind is comprised of not three but four divisions; the conscious, the sub conscious, the unconscious and most importantly the universal mind, the tool to connect with God; The Super conscious mind.

Conscious mind

Conscious mind is your awareness at the present moment; it is what most people associate with what you are. You conscious mind communicates with the outer world through pictures, words, emotions, physical movement and convey messages to the inner self through communication, thoughts, emotions. The conscious mind involves all of the things that you are currently aware of and thinking about. It is somewhat akin to short-term memory and is limited in terms of capacity. Your awareness of yourself and the world around you are part of your consciousness.

Subconscious mind

The subconscious mind includes things that we might not be presently aware of but that we can pull into conscious awareness when required. Subconscious mind stores everything whatever conscious mind experience. It also holds your current programs that you run every day, such as your current recurring thoughts, behavior patterns, habits & feelings. It stores all your past experiences that can be recalled by conscious efforts. your experiences in turns form your belief, habits, likes or dislikes and behavior. Your ambitions, desires for future are also stored in your subconscious mind.

Unconscious Mind

Unconscious mind is very similar to subconscious mind as it also deals with memory. But the major difference between the two is our unconscious minds stores even those past memories of our life which we cannot consciously recall. It is the storehouse of all your deep seated emotions that have been programmed since birth. In simple terms, the unconscious is the storage place for all our memories that have been repressed or which we don’t wish to recall. A traumatic event in our childhood that has been blocked out is an example, but it doesn’t have to be as serious as this.

Unconscious Mind

It could be something very distant like what you had for lunch on your first day of school or what the name was of the childhood friend you played with a couple of times. It’s a memory that we can’t pull out at our choosing. It’s there, but we can’t remember it no matter how hard we try. Certain psychoanalytical methods can bring back these memories (such as hypnosis) or it can be triggered by a particular event (a scene, a familiar place etc.). Whereas, the memories which are stored in our subconscious mind are something we can choose to remember.

Your subconscious mind is much more powerful than your conscious mind. Most of your decisions, actions, emotions and behavior depend on the 95 percent of brain activity that is beyond your conscious awareness, which means that 95 to 99 percent of your life comes from the programming in your subconscious mind. When you aren’t conscious aware of your thoughts or behavior, your subconscious is operating outside your awareness. So your life is a reflection of the programs in your mind, and your primary programming that shaped your life was formed by age seven.

When your brain is in the relaxed alpha state just before you go to bed or after yoga or meditation, this is the best time to enlist your subconscious mind to help you solve this problem. Any time I do this and wake up “knowing” the answer, I immediately follow this guidance and it has always guided me to what I need to know.

Super conscious mind

While the conscious and subconscious aspects of our mind are closely aligned with our physical shell or body, the super conscious mind is super physical. It can be likened to the internet, which enables us to connect to every other computer in the world and the people using those computers. However with the super conscious connection we do not need any other technology than what we are born with. It is important for you all to understand that in order to create a long-lasting change in the thought pattern, ideas, beliefs and even the circumstances, you need to change the paradigms you have stored in your subconscious mind. The programming of the mind might sound threatening to you, but it is very much possible and that too with some easy steps. Although it will take time, regular practice and persistence, because as I said you need to shift the paradigms of your mind, and that cannot be done overnight, but the regular practice will surely help you explore the magical power which your mind possesses.

Through this article, I endeavored to explain the possible ways to communicate with the most powerful asset you have, i.e., your subconscious mind. Before moving on, here are few rules that must be followed during the programming of the subconscious mind.

The first rule (The Thumb rule) – You must know what you exactly want: Your goal must be clear in your mind with clear words to send the right message to your subconscious mind. You must be specific and rational. You cannot desire to fly in the sky like a bird, but you can desire to fly if you wish to get into skydiving course. So it should be very rational, because you just don’t need to say it innumerable times to let it reach to your subconscious mind, but you also need to develop the same kind of belief system that complements the statement.

Second Important Rule – Know what is stopping you: Once you have set a specific, now what you need is setting up a dialog to ask to your own self that what is that which is blocking you or stopping you to achieve that desire. Let’s take an example, a person is having a problem making money even after a lot of hard work; what all possible blocks could he have? He might be living with a belief system that ‘Nothing happens right with me ever, so this time too although I am putting the efforts but let’s see what outcome I will get’, I am too tired of this hard work and efforts that I put every day but still don’t get the results so better I leave everything, and such other types of thought pattern which a common man generally experience. When this man will peacefully try to communicate with his subconscious mind, he’ll be able to recognize these blocks.

This significant rule – Shift the thought pattern in your subconscious mind: Now, once you are aware of what is stopping you, the next and important step is to start working on changing this thought pattern and reprogramming of your subconscious mind.

What is the best time to practice this?

The two most significant times to practice the techniques of the reprogramming of your mind is either when you go to sleep at night or right after you wake up in the morning.

A fact: About 15 minutes before you go to sleep and feel extremely sleepy, your mind and body start calming down, your breathing becomes at ease, your muscles loosen up, your heartbeats start slowing down and the whole system in your body starts getting into a relaxation mode; and this is the time when your brain produces alpha waves. At this stage, the subconscious mind’s tunnel gets activated to send and receive messages. And this is why you get into the dream state of mind when your body gets into complete relaxation mode because at that time your subconscious mind’s tunnel opens up. And those 15 minutes prior to sleep is the best time when you should communicate with your subconscious mind.

Here I am listing down some powerful ways to communicate effectively with the subconscious mind and send positive and affirmative revived beliefs

Make use of music to open and connect deeply with your subconscious mind: Just lie or simply sit down comfortably and play a relaxing, calm, soft and pleasant music that can help your brain go relaxed. You can use alpha brainwave music. Once your brain goes in its alpha waves state, it becomes easier to program your subconscious mind, as it tunes our brain into a receptive mode. You can either sit calmly or can imagine something very beautiful, could be anything; a seaside view, a beautiful home where you are living happily with your family, a big company which you own or work in the greater position or anything that makes you feel good. And if you cannot imagine anything, just simply sit or lie down calmly.

Now, plant the seeds in your subconscious mind: Now, once your body and mind are completely relaxed, this is time to start communicating with your subconscious mind. Begin planting new messages that push you towards your desired goal.  You can make use of imagination along with the positive affirmations. For eg, the same person, who used to think that nothing goes right with him, would say ‘I am going to change that old pattern, and this time, when I am getting into something, I won’t come out of it till the time I make it succeed’. I am the luckiest person as I am endowed with a beautiful family, the body organs, and the opportunity to beat the challenges and rise in life, and I am going to rise high this time and nothing can stop me.
